Tillandsia Bulbosa Belize Large Red

$12.00

An eye-catching air plant with a bulbous, swollen base and long, curving, tubular leaves that twist and sometimes form a vase-like silhouette. Foliage is typically bright to deep green, often developing bronze or reddish hues in strong light; mature plants produce a tall inflorescence with tubular flowers (often purple/blue) and showy bracts.

Care:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light to filtered sun; tolerates morning sun or dappled afternoon light. Avoid prolonged harsh midday sun.
  • Water: Soak 20–30 minutes once a week (more in hot/dry conditions); allow to fully drain and dry within 3–4 hours. Mist lightly between soaks if humidity is low.
  • Humidity & air: Prefers moderate to high humidity (50–70%) and excellent air circulation to prevent rot.
  • Temperature: 55–85°F (13–29°C); protect from frost.
  • Fertilizer: Monthly light feed with diluted (1/4–1/2 strength) air-plant or bromeliad fertilizer during growth/flowering.
  • Mounting: Display upright on wood, cork, or in hanging mounts so the bulbous base is supported but not buried.
  • Notes: Bulbosa often prefers slightly more moisture than some ionanthas; pups form after blooming.
