Care & Growing Condition:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light. Tolerates some morning/evening sun but avoid hot midday sun that scorches leaves.
  • Water: Keep evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) of soil feels dry; reduce frequency in cooler months. Avoid letting the crown sit in water.
  • Humidity: High humidity preferred (60%+). Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or grouping with other plants if indoor air is dry.
  • Temperature: Warm conditions 65–80°F (18–27°C). Protect from drafts and temps below ~60°F (15°C).
  • Soil & potting: Use a well-draining, aerated mix (peat or coco coir + perlite + orchid bark) to retain some moisture but allow airflow. Ensure a pot with drainage holes.
  • Fertilizer: Feed lightly during active growth (spring–summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4–6 weeks. Pause or reduce in fall/winter.
  • Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when rootbound, preferably in spring. Be gentle with tubers/corms.
  • Pruning & cleaning: Remove yellow or damaged leaves to encourage growth. Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust.
  • Pests & problems: Watch for spider mites, mealybugs, scale, and root rot if overwatered. Brown leaf edges often indicate low humidity, inconsistent watering, or salt buildup—flush soil occasionally.
  • Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested (contains calcium oxalate). Keep out of reach of children and animals.
