Hoya doi tung, commonly known as the Doi Tung wax plant, is a species of flowering plant in the Apocynaceae family. Native to Southeast Asia, particularly found in Thailand's Doi Tung area, this epiphytic climber is appreciated for its ornamental value. It features thick, waxy leaves that are typically oval-shaped and can grow to about 4-6 inches in length. The plant is renowned for its fragrant, star-shaped flowers that bloom in clusters, typically displaying hues of white, pink, or red, often with a darker center. Hoya doi tung thrives in indirect sunlight and well-draining potting mixes, making it a popular choice among houseplant enthusiasts. Its low maintenance requirements and attractive blooms make it a delightful addition to any indoor garden.

Care & Growing Condition:

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light may hinder flowering.

  • Water: Allow the 3/4 top soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, ensuring excess water drains out. Typically, watering every 2-3 weeks in the growing season (spring and summer) is sufficient.

  • Humidity: This plant prefers moderate to high humidity but can adapt to average household conditions. If the air is particularly dry, consider misting the plant occasionally or placing a humidifier nearby.

  • Soil: Use well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Alternatively, you can create your own mix by combining potting soil with sand or perlite for improved drainage.

  • Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring to summer). During fall and winter, reduce or cease fertilization.
