The Netherlands Staghorn Fern is an ornamental epiphytic fern prized for its dramatic, antler-like fronds and easy mounting on wood or plaque. Ideal for bright, indirect light and humid indoor spaces, it makes a striking wall display in living rooms, bathrooms, or patios. Low-maintenance when given regular misting, periodic soaking, and balanced fertilizer, this staghorn adds a sculptural, tropical touch to homes and offices.
Care & Growing Condition:
- Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct afternoon sun which scorches fronds. Tolerates lower light but growth slows.
- Watering: Soak root ball or mount thoroughly every 1–2 weeks in warm months; reduce to every 3–4 weeks in cooler months. Let crown and shield fronds dry slightly between waterings.
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity (60%+). Mist frequently or use a humidifier; bathrooms and kitchens are good spots.
- Temperature: Best at 60–80°F (15–27°C). Avoid drafts and temperatures below ~50°F (10°C).
- Mounting/Medium: Grow mounted on cork/wood or in a loose, well-draining mix (sphagnum moss + bark). Secure basal shield and root mass with wire or twine.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during growing season with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer (¼–½ strength). Flush occasionally to avoid salt buildup.
