$10.00

Euphorbia Trigona, commonly known as the African Milk Tree, is a striking, cacti-like succulent that can reach heights of up to 8 feet. Its unique appearance features a central, upright stem with several protruding branches that grow in a vertical, candelabra-like formation. Each branch has three distinct sides with ridges, often adorned with small, sharp spines or thorns. The plant exhibits a rich green color, sometimes with vertical white or light green stripes running along the edges. In the right conditions, Euphorbia Trigona may produce small, inconspicuous flowers at the top of the stems. It is native to Central Africa and is admired both as an indoor ornamental plant and for its dramatic presence in landscape gardens.

Care & Growing Condition:

  • Light: This plant thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can be tolerated, especially by older plants, but too much intense sunlight can scorch the leaves.

  • Watering: Euphorbia Trigona is drought-tolerant and prefers a deep watering when the soil is dry, followed by allowing the soil to dry out completely before watering again. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

  • Soil: Use well-draining soil, ideally a cactus or succulent mix, to prevent water retention.

  • Temperature: This plant prefers warm temperatures ranging from 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C) and should be kept away from drafts or cold temperatures.

  • Humidity: Average home humidity is sufficient for Euphorbia Trigona; however, it is crucial to avoid excessively damp environments.

  • Fertilization: During the growing season (spring and summer), feeding the plant with a diluted cactus or succulent fertilizer once a month can promote healthy growth.

  • Pruning: Prune cautiously to control the shape and remove any damaged branches. Always wear gloves and protect your skin from direct contact with the plant's latex sap, as it can be irritating.

  • Handling and Safety: Handle with care due to its sharp spines and the plant's latex sap, which can be toxic and irritating to the skin and eyes.
