An elegant, medium-sized air plant forming a dense, upright rosette of stiff, lanceolate leaves (3–6 inches). Leaves are smooth, often silvery-green to gray-green from trichomes, sometimes developing pinkish or bronze blush toward the center when stressed or in bright light. Produces a central inflorescence with tubular flowers and colorful bracts.
Care:
- Light: Bright, indirect light or filtered morning sun; avoid hot midday sun.
- Water: Soak 20–30 minutes once weekly (increase to twice weekly in hot/dry conditions). Shake off excess and allow to dry within 3–4 hours. Mist 2–3× weekly between soaks if needed.
- Humidity & air: Prefers moderate to high humidity (40–70%) and good air circulation to prevent rot.
- Temperature: 50–85°F (10–29°C); protect from frost.
- Fertilizer: Monthly dilute (1/4–1/2 strength) air-plant/bromeliad fertilizer during growth and bloom.
- Mounting: Attach to wood, cork, or decorative holders—do not bury in soil.
- Notes: After flowering it may produce pups; allow pups to reach ~1/2 the parent size before separating.
