Cliff Cotyledon (Cotyledon spp.) is a hardy, drought-tolerant succulent native to rocky cliffs, prized for thick, spoon-shaped leaves and clusters of tubular orange or red flowers. Compact and architectural, it’s ideal for rockeries, containers, and sunny indoor spots.
Care & Growing Condition:
- Light: Full sun to bright, indirect light; tolerates part shade but flowers best with more sun. Protect from intense midday sun in very hot climates.
- Watering: Use the soak-and-dry method. Water thoroughly then allow soil to mostly dry before watering again; reduce frequency in winter. Overwatering leads to root rot.
- Soil: Very well-draining cactus/succulent mix with coarse sand, perlite, or pumice. Excellent drainage is essential.
- Temperature & Humidity: Prefers 60–85°F (16–29°C). Protect from frost; avoid prolonged exposure below ~32–40°F (0–4°C). Low humidity is fine.
- Fertilizer: Light feeding in spring and early summer with a diluted balanced or cactus fertilizer every 4–6 weeks.
- Propagation: Easily propagated by stem or leaf cuttings and offsets; allow cut surfaces to callus before planting in well-draining mix.
