Oncidium, commonly known as "Dancing Lady" orchids, are a diverse genus of epiphytic orchids renowned for their vibrant, intricate flowers. They typically feature long, slender stems adorned with clusters of small, colorful blooms that resemble dancers in motion. The flowers often display shades of yellow, red, brown, or white, sometimes with intricate spots or patterns. These orchids are appreciated for their generous flowering periods and can produce impressive displays in suitable conditions.

Care & Growing Condition:

    • Light: Provide bright, indirect sunlight. They thrive with 4-6 hours of sunlight daily. Avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
    • Temperature: Ideal daytime temperatures are between 65-75°F (18-24°C). They prefer slightly cooler nights, around 55-60°F (13-16°C).
    • Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of the potting medium feels dry. Reduce watering frequency after blooming. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
    • Humidity: Maintain humidity levels around 50-60%. Use humidity trays or mist the plant if the air is dry.
    • Fertilizer: Feed every 2 weeks during active growth with a balanced orchid fertilizer, diluted to half strength. Reduce fertilization after flowering.
    • Repotting: Repot every 2-3 years or when the medium breaks down, preferably after flowering. Use a well-draining orchid mix, such as bark or charcoal.
    • Blooming: With proper care, Oncidium blooms typically appear once or twice a year, with some varieties blooming multiple times.
